Notes:
- Abrasive environment was causing premature wear on the 2-4 phenolic laminate shaft bearings of the large paddle wheels that slowly mixed the water.
- Thordon supplied SXL due to:
- Low friction suited to slow speed shaft operating conditions
- Excellent resistance to abrasion
- Performs well in wet environment
Results:
No issues since installation in 2001

Notes:
- The existing UHMWPE wear shoes had been problematic for this application.
- Thordon supplied Thor-Flex due to:
- Excellent wear resistance in low speed sliding wear pad applications
- Much greater cut and gouge resistance than UHMWPE
- Longer wear life as proven by other sewage and waste water plant references
Results:
No issues since installation in 2001
